“Harvested Wood Products (HWP) Model for Estimating the Carbon Storage Potential in Germany (IPCC tier 3)”
The overall target of the study is to develop and describe a country specific model for estimating the carbon storage potential as well as the annual emissions of CO2 from HWPs in Germany. Furthermore, it aims at comparing the different approaches that are currently under discussion. They will be analyzed regarding their feasibility against the background of a possible consideration of HWPs in a future post-Kyoto regime. This mainly comprises aspects like leakage, consistency with methodology applied for estimating emissions/removals in LULUCF/AFOLU sector, as well as future consideration of emissions from biomass used for heat and power generation.
